Title: expansion tanks

In shopping around for replacement tanks I have noticed the term "expansion tanks".  I was just wondering if these would be suitable for a single household residential system if using a cycle stop valve?  I am assuming these tanks are without bladders?

Most expansion tanks have a diaphragm just like a well tank.  They will usually work fine as a well tank.  However, be careful of the inlet size.  Most will have a 3/4" pipe to thread on, but the hole inside the 3/4" inlet is important.  The hole needs to be large enough to have good flow from the tank and some expansion tanks only have a hole the size of a pencil.
