Title: What size pump do I really need?
Post by: ErnieHodge on December 01, 2018, 07:35:13 PM
I just ordered the PK1A kit for our well. Our pressure tank has given up the ghost. We have a Gould 1/2 HP well pump that was here when we bought the house in 1991 and it still works good.

I'm thinking about just getting a new pump and wanted to know if I should go with a 3/4 HP pump. I can get a 1/2 HP that will go to 60 PSI.

We live in a stilt house so we would like a little more water pressure if we can get it upstairs.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Ernie

You will be more happy with the 3/4HP as you can turn up the pressure.  1" pipe is fine as long as your not going hundreds of feet.

Cary,

Our well is using 1" pipe and is only a 20' well. I think I'll go with the 3/4 HP pump. Thanks for the input.
