Title: CSV1W total failure
Post by: TomR on May 28, 2016, 05:03:13 PM
My CSV1W is not very old, (2 years+) and it has stopped working entirely.  It stopped working for about a week one month ago and it appears to be permanent this time.  Water pressure is normal, water flow is normal - it's just as if the CSV was never installed.  Any ideas?  I have a water softener for calcium and an iron filter, but neither one is for an extreme problem.  Is there a way to take it apart without special tools?

There is too much copper in the low leaded brass the government forced us to use.  It flakes off and makes the shaft stick.  That is why we quit making that model 4-5 years ago.

You can unscrew the top and see if you can pull the cartridge out and free the shaft.

If the pump is cycling the shaft is most likely stuck in the open position.

The valve started working intermittently -  so I took it apart and it was hard to move as you said.  I couldn't loosen it, so I removed it entirely and replaced it with a CSV12550 in the well instead of in the house.  Everything is working great.  Thank you for your help.
