In the past 10 years, Victoria has experienced several water crises, higher temperatures and to save a low rainfall. Accordingly there was a significant reduction in the availability of water.
In order to improve the water supply in Victoria, the government announced the our water, our plan for the future in June 2007. The sea-water plant Wonthaggi desalination by reverse osmosis is intended as a long-term solution to Melbourne to secure the water supply.
