I would remove that swing check.  You must have one in the well or you would be getting a lot of air and water hammer.  If that swing check isn't causing a problem now, it is only a matter of time.

Posting the picture of your swing check.  Just had to resize a little.

Got the picture, and yes that is a swing check valve.  You must have another check valve on the pump to work properly, so you should be able to remove that check valve.  Either way it won't effect the CSV.

Under Additional Options, I clicked "attach" and browsed for the pic I wanted.  Just testing to attach a picture.

How about just emailing the picture to me at caustin@cyclestopvalves.com.

A check valve does not usually look like a tee. Can you post a picture?

55 PSI constant will make a big difference.  Just let us know if we can help.

Something may have happened to the switch when you popped the breaker.  We will get you another one anyway, just call us for a return authorization number.  800-652-0207

Hi Mark.  Sorry for your problem.  The EPS switch will flash PR when it tries to start the pump, then it should start reading the actual pressure in the system.  I have never encountered one that would just keep flashing PR.  It sounds like it is trying over and over to start the pump.  I would double check the wiring.  You might have an M1 or an M2 crossed with a ground wire.

You can also bypass the switch and run the wires direct to see if the pump starts.  If all else fails you can go back to the old pressure switch until we get you another EPS switch.  It could just be a bad switch but, what it is doing is rare, so I really think you may have a wire crossed.  Either way we are glad to help.  And if I send you another switch, I can run it on the test pit before I send it, to make sure you don't have the problem again.

With that pump you should be able to turn the pressure switch up as high as you want.  The problem with running the pressure switch at 50/70 or even 60/80 instead of 40/60, is that the higher the pressure, the less water the tank holds, and the more the pump will cycle.

Install a CSV1A before the pressure tank and set it 5 PSI lower than the shut off of the pressure switch.  50/70 switch setting, 65 PSI setting for the CSV.  This way you can have 65 PSI constant in the house without the pump cycling.   That size tank is plenty large to use with a CSV, and you can use an even smaller tank if you ever need to replace it.

With the small tank, you want the CSV pessure to be in the middle of the pressure switch settings.  In other words, if you have a 40/60 switch, you want a 50 PSI CSV.  The CSV1 and CSV1.25 are not adjustable.  But the CSV1W and CSV1A are adjustable.

Sorry about that.  They are suppose to be set at 75 from the factory.  Glad you got it working.

The CSV must be set below the cut-off of the pressure switch.  How much lower depends on the size of pressure tank.  In this case the 75 gallon tank will hold about 20 gallons of water with a 50/70 switch.  So setting the CSV at 65 PSI means the tank will quickly fill to 65 PSI, then this size CSV will let the last 5 gallons in the tank fill at 1 GPM.  This will give at least 5 minutes of run time.  Setting the CSV at 68 PSI, will give a minimum of 2 minutes of run time.  You just don't want to take too long to fill the tank after all the faucets are turned off.  So the larger the tank, the closer the CSV setting is to the pressure switch off setting.
