How Does a CSV Make Shower Pressure Seem Stronger?
« on: January 05, 2014, 06:00:15 PM »
With a 40/60 pressure switch, the pressure is always varying between 40 and 60 PSI while the shower is on.  Dipping down to the low side of 40 PSI is when the shower pressure really seems low.  Then after the pump starts the pressure quickly goes up to 60, but doesn’t stay that way for long because the pump shuts off and the pressure starts dropping quickly to 40 PSI.

Even though that gives an “average” of 50 PSI, it is no where as strong as a “constant” 50 PSI for the shower.

Pressure is always much stronger when being “pushed” by the pump, instead of when being “drawn” from the tank.  So having the pump running and the CSV holding a steady 50 PSI for as long as you are using the shower, will produce much stronger pressure in the shower without actually increasing the pressure switch setting.
