How much water in 10gallon tank

I just installed the pk1a p-sidekick with the 10gallon tank.  Pressures are 30-50psi valve was set to 45 psi.
 When all faucets are turned off the pump runs for about 30- 45 seconds then shuts off.  If my math is right the 10gallon tank would hold 3 gallons but at 45psi it should be about 1gallom left and would run for about 1 minute but it doesn't run that long after.  Any clue how much water and does this sound right 30-45 seconds.

Yes at 30/50 that tank should hold about 3 gallons of water.  But if you set the CSV1A at 45 while running 3 GPM, it won't close down to 1 GPM until about 47-48 PSI, so 30 seconds sounds about right.  Set the CSV to 38 PSI while using 3 GPM, then it will close down to 1 GPM at about 40 PSI.  Then you would get about 90 seconds of run time.  Usually we just set the CSV in the middle at 40 with a 30/50 switch, and you get 60+ seconds of run time.  But with a CSV the amps drop when the flow is restricted, so you don't need a full minute of run time for motor cooling.  It is nice to have 60 seconds when you can, but 20-30 seconds is not going to hurt a thing.

With the 10 gallon size tank and a 30/50 switch, you can actually adjust the run time from about 2 minutes down to 30 seconds, depending on setting the CSV at 30 and 45 PSI respectively.  But the setting of the CSV will also be the pressure you have while using water.  So if you set the CSV at 30 PSI to get 2+ minutes of run time, you will also only get 30 PSI in the shower.  And if you set the CSV at 45 PSI, you will have stronger 45 PSI in the shower, but only about 30 seconds of run time.  Of course with a CSV we are talking run time AFTER you turn off all faucets.  So the actually run time is always for as long as you are using water PLUS 30 seconds or 2 minutes depending on the setting.
