new pump install

a couple weeks ago i installed a pside kick system which is working great but my pump is losing psi when more than one water demand is on. i purchased a gould gs series 3/4hp 10gpm pump and i had a couple of questions before the install. i was wondering if i should put any other check valves in the system being the pump already has one in the outlet of the pump. i was also wondering were i should put the dole valve.  at the pump end or in the house ahead of the cycle stop valve. i also wanted to mention that i was kind of disapointed that the motor on the gould pump was made in china. i was told gould make really good well pumps i hope i didnt make a mistake.

No motors are made in the US anymore.  So that is as god as it gets.  The check valve on the pump is the only one you want in the system.  And you really don't need a Dole valve.  That maybe why your pressure is low now.  The CSV makes an auto adjustable Dole valve.  It will adjust itself to any amount of flow you are using.  If you only open up 3 GPM, the CSV turns into a 3 GPM Dole valve.  But as long as there is water left in the well, the CSV will also open up to supply the amount you are using, which is what will keep the pressure from dropping.

You would be better off using a Cycle Sensor to protect the pump from dry running.  This way you could let the CSV deliver the amount of water you need, but if you use too much and pump the well dry, the Cycle Sensor will shut the pump off, wait a certain amount of time that you set, then restart the pump automatically.

i thought the dole valve was too just prevent the pump from pumping past its normal gpm rating because of a high static water level, and the system right know does not have a dole valve in it that i am aware unless it is down the well so i guess i will just send the dole valve back, do you think the gould pumps are any good?, thanks for your help

Goulds is as good as any, but no better than most.  The CSV will work like a variable Dole valve.  It will hold enough backpressure you won't have to worry about upthrust.  So you don't need the Dole valve.

Really all pumps have been cheapened up so much that it is six of one or a half dozen of the other.  Some pumps may have a better drop in amps than others when used with a CSV, but otherwise there isn't a nickle worth of difference between any of them these days.
