As long as the water level in the well doesn’t drop below about 90’, you would be able to turn up the pressure switch to 40/60. If you use a lot of water and the water level pulls down below 90’, that pump won’t be able to build up to 60 to shut itself off. Then it will keep running until it gets hot and burns up the pump and/or motor.
It won’ hurt to try it as long as you make certain it can build up to 60 before you walk away from it.
There is really no reason to wait until the pump dies to install a CSV. As a matter of fact adding the CSV will help keep the pump, tank, switch, etc, from dying, because it is the best way to lengthen the time it takes to fill the pressure tank.
